The Swedish Government has today appointed Ylva Fältholm as new Vice-Chancellor of University of Gävle. The new Vice-Chancellor will take office on 1 July, 2017.

“I am very honoured by this confidence shown in me. The University of Gävle is a higher education institution striving to develop and it has two profiles, Built Environment and Health-promoting Working Life, which both are of crucial importance for the development of our society. The University’s determined work for a sustainable living environment is impressive and I am very much looking forward to working together with staff and students to continue that work,” Ylva Fältholm says.

Ylva Fältholm is currently professor in Human Work Science in the subject Industrial Work Environment at Luleå University of Technology. She has held a number of leadership positions at Luleå University, among them Head of Department and Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology.

A unanimous University Board decided in February to propose Ylva Fältholm as candidate for Vice-Chancellor of the University of Gävle.

“I am very happy about the decision made by the Swedish Government! I am convinced that she will be a perfect Vice-Chancellor for leading our University’s fantastic success story,” says Chair of the University Board, Carina Blank.
