Time for young people in Hälsingland to visit their University

Högskolan i Gävle

On Thursday 11 May, the University of Gävle and Gävle, the “Student City of the Year,” will welcome young people from year two and three in upper secondary schools from all over Hälsingland.

Every year, the University of Gävle welcomes young people from year two and three in upper secondary schools from all over Hälsingland. The University gives them information about the University itself and its programmes.

Student City of the Year

On Thursday 11 May, year two pupils from Hälsingland’s upper secondary schools will pay a visit and more than 500 pupils have expressed their interest in participating.

“It is a special occasion for us, since we get the opportunity to welcome so many young people from our own region. We are the university of the region, and, as such, we are important,” says Maria Åstrand Swenneke, communicator.

“It is also a great pleasure that we get the chance to show everyone ‘The Student City of the Year,’ which is Gävle.”

A joint welcome

The day begins with a joint welcome, when the pupils are given information about the University of Gävle, why higher education is a good idea and some information about the differences between studying at the university level and at upper secondary schools.

Guided by their own interest, the pupils are then free to choose between three different information sessions held by active students.
