The Degree Certificate Includes

University of Gävle issues degree certificates digitally. The certificates are verifiable directly over the Internet. The degree certificate states the degree awarded, the courses included, course grades and the date they were completed. The degree certificate is in both Swedish and English. Additionally, you receive a diploma supplement which is an appendix in English describing the implemented education and its place in the educational system.

Office Turnaround Time

The office turnaround time varies during the year and depends on the nature of the application but normal processing time is one to eight weeks from the date the University of Gävle receives a complete application. It is not possible to speed up individual cases nor to gain priority. All applications are processed as quickly as possible. The degree certificate will be sent to you by e-mail as soon as it is issued, based on the address information in Ladok. You can check, and change, the e-mail address yourself through Ladok.

Share information about your degree

The certificate is verifiable on-line. If you are a student or alumnus and hold a degree, you can also log in to Ladok for students and retrieve a code for sharing information about your degree. By sharing the control code, you make it possible for the recipient (e.g. an employer) to access information about your degree and its content. If you want to see for yourself what is shared with the recipient, you can log in with the control code and your personal identity number. The same code can be used several times and for several recipients.

You share your degree by:

  • Logging in to Ladok for studentsand go to ”Degrees and certificates”
  • Selecting ”Share certificate”
  • Sharing the retrieved control code with any recipient

Grade Point Average

There is no national grading system in Sweden. The Swedish higher education institutions may determine freely which grading system is to be used for any of the courses on offer. Partly due to this variety of grading systems, no overall grade or GPA is given for a degree certificate and our graduate students are not ranked in any way.

There is also no officially determined methodology for translating the Swedish grades to any other foreign grading system.

Higher Education Credits

According to the most recent graduate regulations each degree must consist of exactly the number of credits stipulated, that is, neither more nor fewer credits than allowed.

Laws and regulations
