Loans

To be able to borrow printed books, you need to be a registered user and have a library card.

  • To read the Library’s e-books or electronically published articles, you only need your user account. You don’t need to have a library card for electronical sources.

Creating a library account

You request a library account by filling out our form.

Borrowing books

The simplest way to find our books is via the library catalogue.

You can check out your books yourself in our Self-Issue machines.

Course books can be borrowed for 14 days and other books for 28 days.

All course books can be found on the ground floor. The other books can be found on the first floor (named floor 3).

Please note that there is a fine (10 kr/day) for overdue coursebooks.

Loan periods and fine for overdue books

You can borrow course books for 14 days and if you return them late, you must pay a fee. If your late fees exceed SEK 50, your library account will be blocked and you can neither borrow nor reserve new books.

Delayed course book 10 kr / book and day

Maximum amount 300kr / book, 1200 kr / borrower

Compensation amount for damaged or lost book

Book price + 100 kr in administration fee. It is also possible to acquire the book yourself and leave it at the library. Books that cannot be repurchased are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Payment alternatives

If you come to the library when the information desk is open, you can pay the fee by card or Swish.

If you cannot come to us, you can pay to the University of Gävle's bank giro account no: 5050 - 5809. As payment message, enter: 3146-9701-9101-95-99. E-mail your name and send a copy of the payment to biblioteket@hig.se

Returning books

During the Library’s opening hours, you can return your books in the Library’s self-issue machines, When the Library is closed, you can return your books in our book drop, which is located outdoors, outside the Library’s east entrance.

Please note that your books will not be removed from your account until staff has deregistered them, when the information desk opens again.

Renew and make reservations
  • By using your library card number and your PIN code, you can check your loans, renew your books and make reservations of books that are out on loan.
