Job description

The department of Building Engineering, Energy Systems and Sustainability Science at the University of Gävle is looking for a doctoral student who is going to work in a research project financed by the Swedish Energy Agency concerning space cooling of nearly zero energy buildings (NZEBs).The purpose of the project is to study which solutions for comfort cooling (local or district cooling alternatives) for a new city district will use the least amount of resources (primary energy), environmental effects (green house gas emissions) and life cycle costs (LCC-analysis) in view of building owner or energy supplier perspective. Calculations will be performed considering how primary energy factors and emissions are today and how these may be in the near future (2030-2040). The work will rely to a large extend on building energy simulations. Results will amongst others be disseminated by participation in IEA EBC Annex 80 Resilient Cooling (http://annex80.iea-ebc.org).

As a doctoral student, you will primarily be dealing with research studies and courses, but also departmental duties, usually teaching, will at most cover 20%. Local guidelines for salary apply.

The candidate must hold an MSc degree within the subject energy systems or other areas relevant to the PhD topic. The candidate should also have good collaborative skills as well as take initiative, be able to work both practical and theoretical and be independence in their work.
