Good News: University of Gävle asked to educate specialist nurses!

Högskolan i Gävle

In total, there will be 50 places and already in the spring of 2017 six positions for future midwives will be filled.

-It is very rewarding for us to be able to help provide our county with competence that it lacks—specialist nurses are in high demand, Annika Strömberg, Dean, University of Gävle, says.

Further your education with pay

Gävleborg Region now offers nurses the opportunity to apply for paid education to give more nurses the opportunity to further their education in order to become a specialist nurse or a midwife.

This offer means that nurses who further their education keep their salary.

-We have a great need for more specialist nurses and we think that more nurses will take the opportunity to further their nursing education if they can keep their salary during that time, Tommy Berger from Gävleborg Region states in a press release.

The cost for this initiative is 18,5 million SEK. During the study period the employer pays for necessary travel costs, accommodation and costs for course literature. The employee in turn commits to work for (stay in) Gävleborg Region for three years after completing the programme.
