Gert Frick, director at Volvo Cars Sweden and an expert on Lean, will be one of the representatives when the industry and the University meet for the second time on 27 March. The meeting will focus on Human Lean, a leadership aimed to be supportive and which takes an active part in developing employees, as well as on the special advantages and challenges of flexible working.

“Despite the fact that the industry is becoming more automated than ever before, the human effort in production remains important, and our University carries out internationally-acclaimed research on how to improve occupational health by organising work differently,” says Joakim Helmbrant, coordinator for external relations at the University of Gävle.

“Many regional companies are facing major changes to which the University of Gävle can contribute with solutions through educational programmes and research,” says Catharina Hegrelius, specialist on external research funding.

In January, the first meeting focused on upskilling and on challenge-driven research and innovation and gathered CEOs and managers from, for example, Sandvik, Ovako, Monitor, Lantmäteriet and Rottneros.

“We are facing extreme skills shortages already today. We need to take responsibility and do everything we can to remedy this situation. For this reason, we accepted the invitation for Industrisamtalet without hesitation,” says Håkan Flink says, operation development coordinator for skills supply at ABB Power Products in Ludvika, and one of the participants in the first meeting.

The purpose behind Industrisamtalet is to give companies and the University opportunity to discuss how they with joint efforts can enable skills development to strengthen each other.
