European collaboration can improve school environments

In a three-year long project, the researchers Anneli Frelin and Jan Grannäs at the University of Gävle will collaborate with school staff to develop methods that can change and improve physical school environments.

“This project is the result of many years of purposeful collaborations in our European research network,” Jan Grannäs says.

In the region, the researchers will collaborate with Östra skolan in Hudiksvall and Vallbacksskolan in Gävle.

“We are very pleased that we will be able to continue our close collaboration with these two schools,” Anneli Frelin says.

The project is a collaboration between researchers in Sweden, Britain, Iceland, Denmark, Italy and Portugal.

Jan Grannäs och Anneli Frelin manage the reserach group ROLE – Research On Learning Environments at the University of Gävle. The focus is on innovative learning and the learning environments of tomorrow.

Recently, Jan Grannäs och Anneli Frelin completed the Ifous project Bygga skola, and produced a report and a short film.
