Distance education and Flexible learning

The University offers several course formats for distance learning. Some courses have several campus meetings during the course, some are entirely web based.

Distance studies

Distance studies give people the possibility of studying at the time and place that suit them best. This means, however, that you have to be structured in order to succeed. Distance studies are especially adapted for those who cannot come to the university because of geographical distance, work, family reasons etc.

In some courses there are seminars that you must visit in person at the university or a certain study centre. Teaching and communication are otherwise carried out online via platforms and web seminars. If the course is entirely web based, there are no physical meetings. You can carry out your studies from wherever you are. All teaching and communication are carried out online via learning platforms and web seminars.

Support for you as a student

We have several different support and service functions for you as a student, for example study counselling, the Writing centre and IT-support.

Learning Center for students

Learning Center cooperates with study centres in the region, which makes it easy to establish and fill your needs as a distance student. Whether you make use of a study centre or study from home, Learning Center is always accessible as a resource for you.

As a student, you can find support and help at Learning Center when you meet with problems caused by the technology used. For example, problems with Canvas.
There are many people you can turn to for help in order to make the time you spend studying as positive as possible. Teachers, department secretaries, technical support section, library, etc. are there to help you as a student.

Study centres

There are study centres all over Sweden where you as a distance student can gain access to technology and practical help during your studies. It is a local meeting place where you meet other students, teachers and tutors. Here, you as a distance student will find facilities and equipment like video conferencing studios, computers, group study rooms, copy machines etcetera. You may also take your written examination here.
