Short presentation of Professor Moshfegh’s research interests

Professor Moshfegh has rather broad research interests, and has been active in many areas of energy systems and indoor environment. He has been engaged in research in the following areas: mathematical modelling and measuring techniques for air and energy flow in buildings and industrial premises, district heating systems, energy renovation of buildings, energy-efficient ventilation, heating and cooling systems, efficient cooling of photovoltaics (PV) system and integration in building façade and roofs, passive and active energy systems. His research covers both inhabited and unoccupied ventilated spaces and premises, where the demands for cooling, heating and climatization are considerable. Minimizing energy usage in buildings and industrial premises, the supply of good indoor air and thermal comfort, secure removal of pollution and efficient air distribution are other scientific goals. The scientific project encompasses the system level, as well as detailed investigations of air movements and heat transfer in buildings, industrial premises and enclosures. For inhabited spaces the research covers the whole chain from technology to people, taking the needs of human occupants into account. At the present time my current research on development a methodology for the techno-economic assessment of potential for energy saving in the renovation of heritage buildings and million programs buildings as well as a new triangular approach for the study of energy use and indoor climate, as well as suggestions for improving energy efficiency in historic buildings shows promising results.
Prof. Moshfegh is also one of the very few experts in Sweden in cooling technology with more than 20 years of collaborations with electronic industry, ventilation industries and steel companies. Prof. Moshfegh has great experience in development of innovative and energy efficient cooling technology using impinging jet and impinging spray cooling methods which can cover the thermal management range suitable for the metal products and applications involved. Prof. Moshfegh’s research on Advanced cooling technology for development of advanced metals has been qualified in the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences IVA's 100 list 2020 -

Research for Sustainable Competitiveness.

Professor Moshfegh's research also covers development and application of different scientific tools, e.g. mathematical modelling of fluid flow and heat transfer, simulations and optimizations as well as validation of numerical predictions by applying various advanced experimental techniques.
Prof. Moshfegh also advices and guides his Master students, PhD students and staffs, when it is suitable, for established and aspiring entrepreneurs. A number of them have established their own business e.g. Martin Sellö founded of Inventiair AB, Mohammad Jahedi Thermalsol, Patrik Thollander and Magnus Karlsson founded of Nordic Energy Audit AB.
