Strengthen your professional role as a teacher

The Master's Programme in Educational Sciences is a study programme for those with a teaching qualification who want to deepen their knowledge of how to develop educational activities. In the programme, you will learn to initiate, plan, manage and evaluate development projects. In particular, the programme focuses on the development of activities in preschools and schools.

In addition to providing tools to develop activities, the programme provides you with in-depth knowledge and insights into how to further develop within your own professional role.

Who is the programme suitable for?

The Master's programme in educational studies is particularly aimed for those with practical experience within the field of education. It is a programme for those who currently work as, for example, preschool teachers, recreation instructors, or teachers, but also for teacher team leaders, heads of subjects, development managers or strategists in the world of education.

Our programme comprises 120 higher education credits, that is two years of full-time studies. However, to enable you to work while studying, the pace of study is part-time. In year one and two, you study courses in the development of activities, systematic quality work and in leading collegial learning. Naturally, our focus is on educational settings. Year three finishes with a course in theory and method to prepare you for year four, when you will write your degree project.

After Graduation

When you have completed the programme, you are highly qualified for developing and improving practices within the sector of education. This programme provides you with greater confidence in your work as a, for instance, head teacher, teacher team leader, strategic planner and supervisor in collegial learning processes. It expands your range of career options and gives you the ability to lead and manage processes for improvement. Moreover, this programme is a second-cycle programme. This means that when you have completed your studies, you will be eligible to apply for third-cycle programmes.

What does the job market look like?

The job market looks promising for students who have completed the Master’s Programme in Educational Sciences. Quality, strategic development and pedagogical leadership are central issues in the world of education. Colleagues with the ability to plan, lead and evaluate school improvement efforts are therefore necessary for strategic work within the sector. Therefore, we see a great demand for the kind of expertise the programme gives you, both in a short-term and a long-term perspective.
